The Nile Cruise

Four nights aboard a comfortable 5-star cruise ship, with full board, between Luxor and Aswan. Breathtaking landscapes, traditional villages, relaxation on the sun deck. The cruise glides peacefully up the Nile between palm groves and villages, past temples bordering the river, as life on the banks unfolds at a gentle pace.

Day 1: Arrival in Cairo - Airport Welcome

Dinner at own expense
Warm welcome at Cairo International Airport by our local representative, who will assist with visa and customs formalities. Private transfer to your hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle, with a first glimpse of the lively city of Cairo. Hotel check-in. Depending on arrival time, a possible evening stroll or dinner in a local restaurant. Accommodation: Hotel, Cairo.

Day 2: Pyramids of Giza - Sphinx - Grand

Lunch Dinner
After breakfast, head to the legendary Giza plateau, where the iconic pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure stand. Walk in the footsteps of the ancient pharaohs and be captivated by the enigmatic silhouette of the Great Sphinx, guardian of the secrets of Antiquity. Lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon, continue your journey through time at the Grand Egyptian Museum, a true treasure of humanity, where colossal statues, thousand-year-old sarcophagi and the famous objects of Tutankhamun will transport you to the heart of a fascinating civilisation. Day 3: Spiritual Roots of Cairo - Coptic and Islamic Quarters - Sleeper Train to Luxor

This morning, you plunge into the silent alleyways of the Coptic quarter, a true labyrinth of stone and prayer. Thousand-year-old churches, the Jewish synagogue, secret crypts and Byzantine icons open the doors of another time. The famous Hanging Church (El Muallaqa), built above an ancient gate of the Roman fortress of Babylon, one of the oldest places of Christian worship in the country. Just next to it, the Crypt of the Holy Family, where Mary, Joseph and the child Jesus are said to have taken refuge during the flight into Egypt. Ben Ezra Synagogue. Lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon, a change of scene: the Islamic quarter with its slender minarets, hidden madrasas and lively souks. Visit of the Sultan Hassan Mosque, a 14th-century masterpiece famous for its monumental architecture and immense inner courtyard. Opposite, the Al-Rifai Mosque houses royal tombs, including that of the last King of Egypt and the last Shah of Iran. Visit of the Citadel of Saladin, built in the 12th century to defend Cairo against the Crusaders, offering a breathtaking panoramic view over the sea of minarets. Optional stroll through the Khan el-Khalili souk. Transfer to the station for the sleeper train to Luxor. Double cabins with two bunk beds, washbasin and electric socket. Day 4: Arrival in Luxor - Valley of the Kings - Temple of Hatshepsut - Boarding the Cruise Ship

On arrival in Luxor by train, you are taken directly to the west bank of the Nile to discover the famous Valley of the Kings, necropolis of the pharaohs of the New Kingdom. Exploration of several tombs carved into the rock and richly decorated, fascinating testaments to the funerary art of ancient Egypt. You then continue with the majestic visit of the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, an architectural masterpiece of superimposed terraces linked by ramps, a style unique for its era. Hatshepsut is one of the rare women to have reigned as pharaoh. Her funerary temple pays tribute to her divine legitimacy and prosperous reign. You board the cruise ship. Lunch is served on board, and the rest of the afternoon is free for relaxation. Note: it is possible to fly from Cairo to Luxor instead of taking the train as a supplement. Included visits: Valley of the Kings, Temple of Hatshepsut. Accommodation: 5-star cruise ship, Luxor.

Day 5: Karnak Temple - Luxor Temple - Navigation to Edfu

After breakfast, the day begins with the visit of the Temple of Karnak, one of the vastest religious complexes of Antiquity. You discover the famous hypostyle hall with its 134 monumental columns, the obelisks and the sacred lake. A total immersion in the grandeur of pharaonic Egypt. Then, the majestic Temple of Luxor, located in the heart of the modern city. Connected to Karnak by the sphinx avenue, this temple dedicated to the god Amun will fascinate you with its colossi of Ramesses II, its obelisk (twin to the one on the Place de la Concorde in Paris), its frescoes, its chapel dedicated to Alexander the Great and its solemn atmosphere. At the end of the day, return on board to begin the navigation towards Edfu, sailing peacefully up the Nile between villages and palm groves. Included visits: Temple of Karnak, Temple of Luxor. Day 6: Temple of Edfu - Temple of Kom Ombo - Navigation to Aswan

Breakfast Lunch Dinner
Early morning, departure for the visit of the Temple of Horus at Edfu, one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt. This imposing sanctuary, dedicated to the falcon-god Horus, impresses with its majestic columns, finely sculpted reliefs and the exceptional quality of its Ptolemaic architecture. After the visit, return on board to resume navigation towards Kom Ombo. Time to relax on the sun deck, admire the peaceful Nile landscapes and observe Egyptian rural life along the water. In the afternoon, arrival at Kom Ombo and visit of the unique temple dedicated to two deities: Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus the Elder. This double temple has a fascinating symmetrical architecture and also houses a small museum dedicated to mummified crocodiles, testifying to the cult of Sobek in the region. Dinner and night on board, continuing the navigation towards Aswan. Included visits: Temple of Edfu (Horus), Temple of Kom Ombo. Accommodation: 5-star cruise ship, on the Nile.

Day 7: Aswan - Temple of Philae - Aswan High Dam - Optional Nubian Village

After breakfast, departure by vehicle for the visit of the Temple of Philae, dedicated to the universal goddess Isis. An enchanting site at the heart of the Nile, rich in history and Ptolemaic architecture. The temple was moved stone by stone in the 1970s under UNESCO to save it from flooding, rebuilt on the island of Agilkia. Continuation to the Aswan High Dam, a colossal 20th-century structure, symbol of Egypt's modernisation. Panoramic view over Lake Nasser. Optional afternoon: excursion to a Nubian village by motorboat. Discovery of Nubian culture, visit of the colourful houses, interaction with the inhabitants, and possibility to observe Nile crocodiles in traditional homes. Included visits: Temple of Philae, Aswan High Dam. Accommodation: 5-star cruise ship, Aswan.

Day 8: Optional Abu Simbel - End of Cruise - Disembarkation

Breakfast
Early morning, optional excursion to the temple of Abu Simbel, a majestic site listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Carved into the rock in the 13th century BC under the reign of Ramesses II, the two temples impress by their size and the finesse of their sculptures. Transport by bus or plane depending on the chosen organisation. Return to Aswan late morning. Disembarkation from the boat and transfer to the airport or hotel according to your continuation programme. End of your stay and Nile cruise.
